∂AIL Prof. Tang Chih-sung↓Institute of Computers↓Academia Sinica↓Peking, China∞

Dear Professor Tang:

We are glad to hear that you have obtained approval to accept our invitation to visit the Computer
Science Department of Stanford University as a Visiting Scholar for one year,
beginning in August of this year.
Enclosed is the DSP-66 form to obtain a visa from the U.S. Embassy in Peking.
Also enclosed is the Affidavit of Support from your sister and some information
on Medical Insurance.

Unfortunately, there is no housing for visitors on campus. However, please do not worry,
we will be
able to find a place for you to stay for a few days until suitable housing can be
found. It is
fairly easy to find housing close to campus in August as Stanford students do not
return to school until the end of September.
The AI Lab will be moving to a building on the Stanford campus on October 1st which
will make it much easier for you in regards to transportation.

I have sent a copy of your papers to Mr. John Thompson of the
U.S. Liaison Office at
the U.S. Embassy in Peking to help speed up the processing
of your visa. If you should need anything else, please let me know. We are looking
forward with pleasure to your visit.

I am sending you an open airline ticket under separate cover.
